Sundar Pichai CEO of Alphabet and Google


Introduction:-

Sundar Pichai, Pichai Sundararajan  in full was born on June 10,1972 is an is an Indian-American business executive. At present he is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alphabet Inc. an it's subsidiary Google.

He was born in Chennai. After completing his schooling he went to IIT Kharagpur and earned his first degree there in Metallurgical  Engineering. After this he moved to United States there he attained a degree in 'Master of Science'  commonly known as 'M.S.' from Standford University  then he attained a degree of 'M.B.A.' (Master of  Business Administration) from the Wharton School of  Pennsylvania, where  he was named a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar. 

He started his career as a material engineer, then he joined a management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. He worked their for a short period then he joined Google in 2004, as a production manager there he also worked  on development of  Google Chrome and Chrome OS. He is also responsible for the launch of Google Drive. He also made efforts for the development of Google Maps and Gmail.  In 2010 he also announced the open-sourcing of new video codec app VP8by Google. Google also launched Chromebook on 2012. On August 10,2015 it was announced that Pichai will be the next CEO of Google by Product Chief Larry Page. He was appointed  to the Alphabet Board of Directors in 2017.

He was included in the list of 100 most influential people in 2016 by Time's Magazine.

Early Life and Education:-

He was born in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India. His mother Lakshmi, was a Stenographer and father Regunatha Pichai was an Electrical Engineer  at the General Electric Company or GEC , the British Conglomerate. His father also had a manufacturing plant that produced electrical components. In his childhood he lived in a two room  apartment at Ashok Nagar, Chennai and had a Hindu upbringing.

He read in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. It was a CBSE school at Ashok Nagar. He completed his XII from Vana Vani School at IIT Madras (now Chennai). He earned his first degree at IIT Kharagpur in 'Metallurgical Engineering' and he is one of the many alumnus of the institution. He also has a degree in 'Master of Science' that he Earned at Standford University. He has also a degree of an MBA that he earned from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Career:- 

Mr. Pichai started his career by working as an engineer at McKinsey & company. He joined the Google in the year 2004 as a leader of product management. There he made many continued  efforts for suit of every single user of Google's search engines i.e. Google Chrome and Chrome as well. Due to his efforts world famous Chromebook was launched publically in 2012 which was a huge success for Google. Firstly he was appointed as product chief by Lary Page and after that on August 10,2015 he was appointed as the CEO of Google, which was a very good decision and he is still serving Google and this world as a CEO of Google. Apart from Google he is also the Chief Executive Officer of Alphabet, which is the parent company of Google.

He was also offered the post of CEO at Microsoft before it was given to Satya Nadella.

Recognition:-

In 2022 he received Padma Bhushan from Indian Government which is the third highest civilian award in India.

Personal life:-

He has married to Anjali Pichai who is a chemical engineer. Pichai is blessed with two children. Apart from his work he likes to play cricket and football.
